abstract
In a series of recent papers the authors have studied the inner-shell direct ionisation and charge transfer processes that occur when a light ion with nuclear charge Zp, collides with a target atom, nuclear charge ZT. They used a single-centred expansion (SCE) method, expanding the single-electron wavefunctions in a set of target-centred Hilbert states. This method is inaccurate if charge transfer is an important channel for electron flux loss and is thus generally restricted to the asymmetric region, Z p<
