abstract
We report on a very cost-effective (<$50,000) nonlinear Raman microscopy system utilizing coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS). By using narrowband picosecond radiation at 1064 nm and a synchronized broadband continuum radiation in the range of 1150-1400 nm both the broadband spectral imaging and high spectral resolution are achievable in a microscopic set-up. We also suggest and experimentally demonstrate a novel scheme to selective Raman imaging of cellular structures, such as collagen and cellular membranes.
