abstract
The applications of picosecond high-power diode-pumped solid state lasers in the field of biomedical imaging and material science were analyzed. The analyzed system is capable of efficient pumping of high-energy parametric oscillators and parametric amplifiers to produce broadly tunable high-energy sub-picosecond infrared pulses. Tight focusing of high-energy per pulse helps to achieve energy density in excess of 10 J/cm2, resulting in efficient ablation of all materials absorbing at the wavelength of 1064 nm. It is also applicable in advanced biological imaging based on Coherent Anti-Strokes Raman Spectroscopy, that requires two-time overlapping picosecond pulses of two different frequencies.
