abstract
Coherent Raman microspectroscopy imaging is an emerging technique for non-invasive, chemically-specific optical imaging. The wealth of information available through hyperspectral imaging potentially allows discriminating and imaging different chemicals in biological tissues, which is important, for example, for stain-free histopathology. One of the advantages of nonlinear Raman microspectroscopy is the ability to achieve high spatial resolution imaging in the presence of light scattering, when conventional confocal microscopy fails. In this report, a commercially available hyperspectral analysis software is utilized for analysis of vibrational spectra collected through highly scattering medium In particular, applications to remote optical sensing of potential biological threats and to imaging through a layer of skin tissue were successfully demonstrated. 2011 SPIE.
