abstract
The nonlinear optical conversion in zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films was analyzed. The sample was grown on a thin fused silica substrate by pulsed-laser deposition. Very high conversion efficiency to the third-harmonic radiation was obtained for an unamplified femtosecond Cr 4+: forsterite laser. The results show that the third harmonic generation of ultrashort pulses with the efficiency of the order of percent was generated.
