Efficient Raman amplifier in the forward and backward directions pumped by picosecond laser pulses Academic Article

abstract

• In this letter, we report on stimulated Raman amplification in YVO 4 pumped by MHz repetition-rate picosecond pulses. We demonstrate that in the case of a tight focusing geometry the efficiency of this amplification is independent of the direction of the pump pulse propagation with respect to that of the seed pulse. The polarization properties of Raman amplification are studied in detail. 2013 Astro Ltd.
