2015 IEEE. Design optimizations for the previously proposed lens-to-channel waveguide concentrator is discussed. Using integrated tapered waveguides, up to 900x geometric concentration can be achieved without separate secondary optics under ideal conditions. A 600x practical system is built in Zemax and simulated using a Fresnel lens array, showing less than 1% structural loss and angular response over 0.6 degrees.
