abstract
14CBMS. A microfluidically tunable capacitor (TC) using fluids as dielectric material was designed and an array of the developed T C was integrated into a magnetic resonance (MR) coil array for faster-scanning MR systems. The T C served as an alternative to conventional tunable varactors that have relatively high noise and require additional RF components to alter its capacitance. Multiple TCs integrated with an MR coil array were successfully tuned by using only a single dielectric fluid source. The MR coils were successfully matched to 50 and tuned to 200 MHz to work with 4.7 Tesla MR systems.
