abstract
With increasing water scarcity around the world due to frequent drought incidences along with uncertainties due to climate change, increasing attention is now being focused on a better understanding of different aspects of droughts. This paper discusses the impact of climate change on annual drought severity based on future climate scenarios derived from GCM outputs using downscaling techniques. It is observed that the intensity of short-term droughts (based on SPI 1) in the Kansabati basin is higher in terms of severity and spatial extent for the period 2051-2100 than 2001-2050. 2009 Taylor & Francis Group.
