abstract

• A new regime of the free-electron laser arises when the recoil of the electron due to its scattering in the wiggler and laser field cannot be neglected any more. In such a quantum free-electron laser the discreetness of the momenta becomes visible and leads to novel effects. We present a quantum mechanical theory in this domain.
