AN INTERACTION-MODEL FOR 3RD VIRIAL-COEFFICIENTS WHICH PROVIDES SIMPLIFIED EQUATIONS FOR MIXTURES Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • Using a new interaction model for third virial coefficients produces a simpler, yet still accurate, truncated virial equation for mixtures. For multicomponent mixtures, this model greatly reduces the interaction terms in number and complexity and requires only data at a single composition for binary mixtures to determine parameters. We have tested the model with experimental data and have found agreement within experimental error. Additional tests using intermolecular potential models indicate that the model describes theoretical predictions equally well. 1987.
