abstract
Modern experimental techniques for vapor-liquid equilibria at pressures above 1 MPa are reviewed with emphasis on the past decade. Methods for determination of the critical loci of mixtures are discussed following the introduction. Vapor-liquid equilibrium methods are categorized as analytic or synthetic. Static, dynamic and circulation methods are subdivisions of the former whereas the latter is divided into optical and non-visual methods. This work draws heavily upon the modern reviews of Young, Tsiklis and Schneider. Finally, progress in authors' laboratory towards the construction of novel P-V-T and VLE apparatuses is summarized; the Burnett-isochoric, microwave cavity and intersecting isochores methods are considered with attention to sapphire cells.
