Overview of the Texas A&M /NSF Engineering Core Curriculum Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • In summary, the four-course sequence developed in this program 1) presents a unifying framework of engineering, 2) builds upon physics, chemistry, and mathematics which are already part of the students' experience, 3) presents the framework early in the engineering curriculum so that students can place subsequent course material on the framework, 4) spans engineering and science disciplines, thereby promoting a deeper understanding of a larger body of knowlege and a greater comfort with interdisciplinary work, and 5) naturally accomodates openended and multidiscipline design problems.
