ORBIT DETERMINATION USING PRESCRIBED ORBITS Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • A novel angles-only orbit determination technique based on prescribed orbits is presented. This approach does not require the exact solution of the Keplerian two-body problem. The solution is approximated by polynomials or any other functions best representing the orbit. The fact that the assumed solution should satisfy both two-body problem equation and the geometry of the problem is the foundation of the presented technique. The developed method is capable of using multiple observations does not require initial guess for ground-based IOD problems. The results showed our method as a valid alternative of the available methods of orbit determination.
