BEZIER REPRESENTATION OF ANALYTICAL FUNCTIONS Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • This paper provides a methodology to optimally approximate analytical functions with non-rational and rational Bezier curves. The great flexibility of Bezier curves is here highlighted by direct comparison with Pade rational approximation of analytical functions and other methods where appropriate. Current results show a non-questionable superiority of Bezier rational approximation with respect to Pade representations. There are several potential applications of the proposed theory (e.g., in optimal control) which will follow in subsequent papers. In general, wherever Pade approximation is adopted to approximate analytical functions, it can be substituted by Bezier representations.
