A Reliability Evaluation Method for Line Switching Operations in Power Systems Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • 2016 Power Systems Computation Conference. Line switching operation in power systems is an important part of network topology and flow control, but most papers about line switching operations choose their objective as the economic benefit or stability improvement and only a few papers focus on the overall reliability evaluation of the line switching operations. In this paper, a reliability evaluation method is proposed with two main features. The first feature is line removal test which provides a comprehensive understanding of line switching operations; the second feature, variance test, involves variance of analysis results and provides additional information compared with risk assessment. In general, this reliability evaluation method serves as an important contribution in reliability evaluation of line switching operations and sheds light on the previously overlooked areas of line switching operations evaluation.
