MACHINERY SELECTION USING FARM-LEVEL INTELLIGENT DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS. Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • Systems analysis is often neglected in reductionist research since considerable expertise and knowledge is required to develop, run, and interpret complex analysis techniques such as linear programming (LP) models. Expert system technology offers a possible solution for making systems research tools such as LP available to all agricultural researchers. Expert systems are software applications concerned with the automation of tasks that are normally performed by specially trained experts This article discusses how expert systems can help automate modeling of farm-level systems, with emphasis on the selection of machinery at the farm level.
