Spray dried iron catalysts for slurry phase Fischer-Tropsch synthesis Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • A study was conducted to examine the attrition properties of two iron Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) catalysts, synthesized at Hampton University, by following changes in particle size distribution during F-T synthesis in a stirred tank slurry reactor, and to provide information on activity and selectivity of these catalysts in a slurry reactor. During the first 50-80 hr of testing, the synthesis gas conversion increased with time reaching 85-87%. Methane selectivity decreased during the first 150 hr of testing, reaching a stable value of 2% (carbon atom basis). Methane and C 5+ selectivities were independent of conversion level and/or process conditions.
