abstract
Copyright 2015 MS & T15. The distribution of martensite plays a significant role in in the constitutive behavior of dual-phase (DP) steels. Grain size, shape, texture and volume fraction are also important factors. To create different martensite volume fraction and distribution, DP980 was selected. Various heat treatment strategies were applied to the as-received material. Microstructures of each heat-treated specimen were studied by scanning electron microscopy. A 2-point correlation function was used to calculate the martensite distribution and particle shape density functions based on SEM images. Specimens were tested by tensile deformation to determine an optimized microstructure.
