Preeminence in first-year engineering programs Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • The transformation of a high-quality first year engineering program is discussed. A minimum of fundamentals in science and maths are necessary to prepare students for their engineering coursework. Exposure to the nature of engineering and its opportunities is also very important in enabling students to identify an appropriate career path. The transformation requires taking into consideration the current engineering education research, and also those issues that touch on matters of diversity and social responsibility.
