abstract
This paper presents a high speed, real-time, low cost, and effective visual tracking system using two webcams. The tracking system integrates freeware programs and visual basic code to process images in order to accurately determine the target location. A computer manages the image processing through a tunable tracking rule to monitor and lock on the target quickly. A complex judge rule is used to scan for the target and the actual location is determined using simple trigonometric relationships. The capabilities of the tracking system are checked through several experiments and the results are presented in this paper. Institution of Engineers Australia, 2008.
