abstract
Rainfall simulation has been used in a number of studies to compare best management practices in agricultural and disturbed lands. Two types of rainfall simulators are typically used: drop-formed and nozzle-sprayed simulators. The objective of this study was to calibrate a nozzle-type indoor rainfall simulator for use in runoff studies. The simulator produced good uniformity using 10 Veejet 80100 nozzles applying rainfall at a target rate of 10 cm h-1. The effective area for use was 3.9, 5.2, and 8.6 m2 with uniformity coefficients of 93%, 92%, and 89%, respectively. 2007 American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
