abstract
A new theoretical approach to the description of primary processes in photosystem II (PS II) is proposed including relaxations of the radical pair (r.p.). Non-Markovian generalized kinetic equations are used to describe the relaxations. The model proposed has yielded the characteristic times and amplitudes of the components of the kinetics of fluorescence observed in the experiment and adequately describes their behaviour with change in photochemical activity of PS II. It is concluded that the relaxations of the r.p. slow down as the reaction centres close. The results confirm the hypothesis on the , heterogeneity of PS II and may be used to determine the ratio of the number of and centres in the test sample. 1993.
