Nanofluidic channels with elliptical cross sections formed using a nonlithographic process Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • The fabrication of nanofluidic channels that exhibited elliptical cross sections with major and minor radii of less that 100 nm was discussed. The channels were found to be formed by thermal removal of sacrificial polymer nanofibers. It was observed that the elliptic shape of the channels eliminated sharp corners at which fluid flow was hindered. The application of nanofluidic channels in bimolecular separation and single molecule analysis was also elaborated.
