abstract
A process integration approach is adapted to the synthesis and optimization of a gas-to-liquid (GTL) plant. A new strategy for advanced Fischer Tropsch process was analyzed for alternative design. A framework was provided for evaluating and optimizing the performance of GTL plants. A base-case flowsheet was synthesized and developed with computer-aided process simulation tool ASPEN Plus for a GTL process. Process specifications and key design operations were determined from process performance. After that, integration analysis is carried out on mass and energy basis. The economic impact of alternative designs was estimated and the various designs were compared. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the AIChE 2010 Spring National Meeting (San Antonio, TX 3/21-25/2010).
