abstract
2016 IEEE. In this paper we present an approach to procuring flexibility from price-responsive demand in order to manage system ramp capability. The proposed approach utilizes a metric termed as Lack of Ramp Probability (LORP) to assess the contribution from the demand response to the system ramping flexibility. Our approach fits well into the current realtime economic dispatch framework. We conduct simulations of our proposed approach using real data from price-responsive loads. The impact from the price-responsive demand on the system ramp flexibility is illustrated in a modified IEEE 24- bus Reliability Test System.
