abstract
In this paper, we explore the use of decentralized control techniques to perform acoustic source localization in the presence of walls and buildings. The control follows a proven second-order, function-maximization method; however, the problem becomes more difficult with the introduction of physical barriers and the associated echo effects. Echo adds complexity to the system via superficial sources. This complication is analyzed, and a possible solution to the echo problem is presented. The objective of this research is to apply the solution method to urban search and rescue scenarios. Simulation results are given at the conclusion of the paper.
