abstract
Flash memories are a very widely used type of nonvolatile memory. Like magnetic recording and optical recording, flash memories have their own distinct properties. These distinct properties introduce very interesting information-representation and coding problems, which address many aspects of a successful storage system. In this paper, we survey recent results in this area. A focus is placed on rewriting codes and rank modulation. 2009 IEEE.
