RESOURCE ESTIMATION FOR SHALE GAS RESERVOIRS Chapter uri icon

abstract

  • 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.. This chapter presents a study in which Monte Carlo simulation was integrated with an analytical reservoir simulator, PMTx 2.0, to estimate the original volume in place, predict production performance, and estimate the fractions of TRR that are ERRs for a variety of economic situations. In the study, UGRAS was applied to generate gas production profiles for a variety of reservoir, well, and hydraulic fracture scenarios. Dong et al. determined the decumulative probability distributions of OGIP, TRR, and RF for four target shale gas plays, Barnett Shale, Eagle Ford, Marcellus and Haynesville shales, in the United States using fixed reservoir parameters and final density functions. The chapter summarizes the reservoir model used for shale gas reservoir simulation and the range of main reservoirs for the four target shale gas plays. The technology and tools described in the chapter can be useful in assessing technically and ERR in shale gas plays.
