abstract
Femtosecond Raman light source extending over many optical bandwidth octaves was described. Phase controlled multiphoton ionization rate of xenon was determined as a function of the sideband phases. Five spectral sidebands were selected to measure the photoionization rate. The light source was characterized by the nonlinear photoionization. The results were used to generate near single-cycle waveforms.
