Measurements of the thermopower, S, for a series of La//1// minus //xAl//x metallic glasses (. 18 less than equivalent to x less than equivalent to . 35) over the temperature range 1. 2-280K are presented. An increase in values of minus S/T at low temperatures is the result of electron-phonon mass enhancement. Values of the electron-phonon coupling constant, lambda , determined from these measurements are larger than those inferred from superconductivity. Their difference is at least four times larger than the estimated error.
