Depression of the transition temperature of thin superconducting films by noble gas overlayers

When care is taken to prevent contamination, the superconducting transition temperatures in Al and Sn films are depressed by overlayers of Ne or Ar. The experimental results can be explained by the modification of the surface phonon spectrum. 1972.
