SUPERCONDUCTIVITY IN 3D SERIES AMORPHOUS TRANSITION-METAL ALLOYS Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • The superconducting transition temperature, upper critical field, electrical conductivity and Hall coefficient have been measured in situ for a series of TiV, VCr and TiCr thin alloy films which have been quench condensed on substrates held at liquid helium temperature in an ultrahigh vacuum codeposition chamber. Addition of chromium strongly suppresses the superconducting transition temperature of these alloys. There appears to be an initial increase in the density of states at the Fermi energy with the addition of chromium as determined from the resistivity and critical field slope. Further addition of chromium appears to decrease the density of states. The Hall coefficient for these alloys, like those of other early transition metal amorphous alloy films, is positive. 1988.
