abstract
The thermopower for Ca1-xAlx metallic glass alloys for x = 0.20, 0.25, 0.30, 0.33, 0.40, and 0.45 is positive with a small negative curvature as a function of temperature. Room temperature values of S/T vary from 3 nV/K2 for x = 0.20 to 17 nV/K2 for x = 0.45. As previously reported {variant}(300) varies from 135 cm to 375 cm and {variant}-1 d{variant}/dT (300) from -0.67 10-4 K-1 to -4.8 10-4 K-1 for these same alloys. Although recent UPS measurements indicate a large d-band contribution to the density of states at the Fermi energy, Mott s-d scattering is not a major factor in electron transport for these alloys. 1984.
