Evaluating bottomhole pressure for foamed acid stimulation Conference Paper uri icon

abstract

  • A mathematical model for predicting bottomhole pressure from measured surface pressure is presented. The model accurately describes the pressure behavior for the flow of neat foams. It is based on the combination of appropriate EOS and rheological model. It includes the effect of interdependency of fluid properties and flow condition. The model also considers the fluid column length change for compressible fluid as it flows down the wellbore. The fluids used include xylene, 10% HCl, mud acid, 5% HCl. When combined with a skin factor model, it can be used to evaluate a matrix acidizing treatment, to optimize the treatment design, and to increase the effectiveness of matrix stimulation. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the SPE International Symposium and Exhibition on Formation Damage Control (Lafayette, LA 2/15-17/2006).
