abstract
A comparison of an approximate integral method for the estimation of the parameters of ordinary differential equations with one of the effective gradient methods of nonlinear programming has been given. With the aid of tests problems characteristic of chemical kinetics it has been shown that both methods give very similar statistical characteristics (bias and dispersion) for the parameters estimated. The advantages of the integral method are its high speed and the simplicity of its numerical realization.
