Superallowed Fermi decay of Ga62 Academic Article uri icon

abstract

  • The superallowed + decay of Ga62 has been studied, using plastic and semiconductor E-E telescopes. The reaction Ni58(Li6,2n)Ga62 was used to produce Ga62, with ELi6=25 MeV. A half-life of 116.340.35 ms was obtained, and the total decay energy QEC was measured to be 917126 keV. After applying radiative and charge-dependent corrections, the "corrected" ft value Ft=308147 s was obtained, in excellent agreement with the value from Fermi decays in A54 nuclei. RADIOACTIVITY Ga62, measured T12, E+; deduced QEC, ft. High purity Ge, Si(Li), plastic detectors. 1979 The American Physical Society.
