abstract
We describe a large solid angle, moderate resolution, magnetic spectrometer which is under construction at Texas A&M. The spectrometer optics are based upon point-to-parallel transport from the target to the detectors. This represents a hybrid approach, combining the easy event selection and reconstruction associated with point-to-point, "focusing" spectrometers with the lower cost and simpler fabrication associated with "ray-tracing" spectrometers. The spectrometer may be configured either to provide high efficiency for detecting correlated pairs of identical particles or to provide uniform acceptance over a 5 7.5 cm2 target area. 1989.
