abstract
Oil industry statistics show that gravel-packed wells, in hydrocarbon production for more than a year from formations with permeability greater than 500 md, exhibit an average skin excess of 20. This paper utilizes laboratory and field data to investigate causes of high skin value. A finite element transient nondarcy model, simulating gravel-packed wells, was used to investigate the damage.
