abstract

• The principle of mass balance of the gas phase in the annulus has been used to develop a mathematical model. The model relates the annular gas volume to the gas vent rate from the annulus and the rate of surface pressure change. Based on the model, two methods have been proposed to estimate the annular gas volume, including gas bubbles in the oil column.
