abstract
A comprehensive coupled wellbore/reservoir simulator was developed to study the behavior of a single-phase oil flow in the wellbore. The wellbore was modeled numerically in which mass, momentum, and energy of the fluid were conserved, while the reservoir fluid flow was treated analytically. Energy transport occurred through the tubular, cement sheaths, and the formation by conduction. However, both conductive and convective heat transport mechanisms were operative for the annular fluid. Heat losses through seawater and air were also modeled for a well producing in an offshore environment.
