abstract
An outreach program, ZOOM into engineering, based on a popular children's television show developed by National Engineers Week and PBS for promoting engineering technology was discussed. With the support from the industry, resources and activities were designed to help engineers introduce K-6 students to engineering concepts. Activities on ZOOM included science and engineering experiments that were easily done with household items. The engineers were encouraged to go to the classroom and serve as role models for young children and it was also expected that more children would be encouraged in going into engineering related fields.
