abstract
Managing the supply chain has become necessary and inevitable in today's industrial channels. Solving the information management (connectivity) issues is the key to a successful supply chain operation. A new Supply Chain Information Systems course has been developed for the undergraduate Industrial Distribution curriculum to focus on information technology related implementation problems in supply chain and e-business. The class includes a live team-based project with a major semiconductor manufacturer and hands on lab exercises. The project gives the students an opportunity to experience and learn the state of the art in information technology implementation and connectivity problems in a real-life situation while the lab gives them a chance to work on cutting edge software applications. The course uniquely combines theory, practice and application in an environment that replicates the real world.
