Overview
abstract
We study resonant (3) processes in a double-ladder system. We obtain general analytical solutions for the atomic polarizations corresponding to the two circular polarization components of the probe fields. From the analytical results we identify and numerically demonstrate various parameter domains where effects resulting from (3) can be obtained. The theoretical prediction of large gain due to (3) is experimentally verified in Cs vapor.
