abstract
The field-dependent relaxation effect was studied in four possible configurations of three-level atoms driven by coherent field at one of atomic transitions and coupled to photon reservoir. For arbitrary intensity and detuning of the field, an analytical solution of the generalized master equations was obtained that takes into account modification of atomic relaxation by the driving field. The drastic modification was shown to appear in case of crossing between one of Stark levels and nearby unperturbed atomic level. Such crossing results in a reversal of the direction of spontaneous emission between these levels.
