abstract
Recent phenomenological equations used in the analysis of different coherent effects in three-level systems driven by a string coherent field have failed to describe the situations where one the ac-Stark sublevels crosses a neighboring atomic level. This paper presents a derivation of generalized master equations describing such situations both in bare and dressed atomic states bases. It is found that the exchange in a mutual position of ac-Stark sublevel and neighboring unperturbed atomic level drastically modifies spontaneous relaxation at the corresponding transition.
