abstract
We show that coherent optical drive of electrons can provide gain at gamma-ray nuclear transitions without the requirement of population inversion due to the hyperfine coupling between electrons and nuclei. This suggests a new path for a solution of one of the most challenging problems in modern physics - realization of a gamma-ray laser. Copyright 1999 by MANK "Haya/Interperiodica".
