abstract
Emission from [Fe II] at 1.644 m and 1.533 m has been detected in the Galactic center. The spatial and velocity structure of the emission is similar to that of Br and [Ne II]. The dereddened ratio of [Fe II] 1.644 m to Br emission is 1, much greater than for a typical H II region but smaller than typically found in supernova remnants. The dereddened ratio of the 1.533 m to 1.644 m emission near the emission peak is 0.33 0.05, which suggests ne > 105 cm-3 in the Galactic center.
