abstract
A three-terminal semiconductor laser used for dual-wavelength operation in the visible/near-infrared range with electrically independent control of two optical fields was discussed. A transistor like scheme was used for implementing various nonlinear optical processes in a semiconductor device. The most important feature of this laser is its potential to generate far infrared in the continuous wave (cw) regime. It can also be used in the fields of applied optics.
