abstract

  • The screening of an external electric field near a metal surface has been determined for the semi-infinite free-electron model with the use of a self-consistent linear-response theory. The resulting self-consistent potential has been used to calculate tunneling (i.e., field-emission) currents. 1973 The American Physical Society.
